Join Us Next Wednesday, November 2

Next week, our November installment, at 7pm at Pianos on Ludlow, will feature: ARTHUR JONES, REBECCA KEITH, JOSEPH SALVATORE, and ROYAL YOUNG.

Check out this lively trailer from Arthur Jones’ new POST-IT NOTE DIARIES. The accomplished illustrator and curator of the “Post-It Note Reading Series” presents a collection of stories by notable contemporaries, which he illustrated on post-it notes. Next week at Freerange, Arthur will be reading from the book and displaying his art work, at Freerange’s very first multi-media performance.

Joseph Salvatore will also be reading from his brand-new collection of short stories, TO ASSUME A PLEASING SHAPE, out now from BOA Editions. In addition to being the author of this new collection, Joseph is also a widely published critic (find many of his NYT book reviews here) and a professor at The New School. You can also find, back here, Mira’s thoughtful review of his launch reading a few weeks ago.

We are also honored to be hosting Rebecca Keith, whose poetry and other writing has appeared in Best New Poets (2009), The Laurel Review, The Rumpus, The Awl, BOMBlog, Dossier, Storyscape, The Millions, and many others. Rebecca is also the founder and host of Mixer Reading and Music Series (where she is sometimes joined by FR alum Melissa Febos).

Last but definitely not least, is rock-star fame-shark Royal Young. Royal, a regular contributor to Interview Magazine and HolyDiver.net, will be reading from his memoir and presenting some multi-media surprises as well.

And to hold you over until then, here’s our freshest Freshly Hatched: short fiction from Lindsay Sproul, “The Truth About Sadie Brown.” We are also currently seeking submissions to Freshly Hatched, our fledging online publication. Send us your work at submissions@freerangenonfiction.com, and spread the word! (more guidelines here).

We really hope you’ll all join us next Wednesday. The only excuse for not coming would be if you were kidnapped by a Tim Burton character who was suffering from anguish after many generations of ruling Halloweentown and just wants to learn about Christmas. Or something.

See you there! (That’s WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 7PM AT PIANOS NYC on the Lower East Side.)
