Drop It Like It’s Hot

It’s June in New York. The sidewalks smell like sweet trash and human pee. The subways are either freezing cold or sticky hot. The temperature is already expected to hit 97 degrees this week. Global Warming? Probably. Sucky? Definitely. So why not do yourself a favor, save paper and stay inside today by reading this week’s two new Freshly Hatched pieces:

My Heart Was Still Beating by Chloe Caldwell (one of our July 6th performers!)

Plus, a poem by one of the stars of Freerange’s June 2011 Installment:
Florida Fire Child by David McLoghlin

While you’re at it, you can check out a recent feature L Magazine did on Freeranger Darcey Steinke, one of our June 2nd readers, in last week’s “Questionnaire for Writer Types” by clicking HERE.

Don’t forget: our next show is Wednesday, July 6th at 7 p.m. at PIANOS NYC. It’s not to be missed! We’ll be featuring vegan funnyman & Last Comic Standing finalist MYQ KAPLAN (Vegan Mind Meld, iTunes’ top 10 best-selling comedy CDs of the year); STACY PERSHALL, author of Loud in the House of Myself: Memoir of a Strange Girl, (A Barnes & Noble Discover New Writers pick!); Brooklyn-based poet/premiere star of the Spoken Word genre JON SANDS, super smokin’ novelist DIANA SPECHLER (Skinny, Who By Fire); and author of the much anticipated book of essays, Legs Get Led Astray, author CHLOE CALDWELL. Bring a diaper and some tissues, because these hilarious/poignant authors will have you leaking all over the place.

Be there or be square.
