Suzie DeFord: Susie DeFord is the author of Dogs of Brooklyn, a fresh poetic narrative about her colorful life as a dog trainer and walker in Brooklyn, NY. She studied poetry at Florida State University, and received her MFA from the New School University. Her work has appeared in The Comstock Review, Dog Fancy, BOMB magazine, Poets and Artists, Shampoo Poetry, Mipoesias, Poetry Motel, Work Zine,  Survivor Magazine, Architrave, Pinyon, and the anthology Dogs Singing. She won the Cody Harris Allen Writing Award and was a finalist in the Muriel Craft Poetry Award and the New Letters Poetry Prize. She has taught writing at Brooklyn Friends School, Berkeley Carroll, and the College of New Rochelle. Also a musician, she fronted the bands Terset and Wu Wei. She lives in Brooklyn, where she runs Susie’s Pet Care, a dog training, walking, and pet sitting business.

Claudia LaRocco: Claudia La Rocco is the founder of thePerformanceClub.org, which won a 2011 Arts Writers Grant. She writes about performance for the New York Times and is a founding editor of Hyperallergic Weekend (http://hyperallergic.com/weekend). She is a member of Off the Park Press, for which she is currently editing an anthology of poems by painters. She is on the faculty of the School of Visual Art’s graduate program in Art Criticism and Writing in New York City, and has taught and lectured at various universities, festivals and institutions. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, The Brooklyn Rail, on failbetter.com, Slate, WNYC New York Public Radio and in the anthology, Viva la Difference: Poetry Inspired by the Painting of Peter Saul. She lives in Brooklyn.

Jennifer Miller: Jennifer Miller is author of The Year of the Gadfly (Harcourt, 2012) and Inheriting The Holy Land (Ballantine, 2005). Her journalism has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post Magazine, Christian Science Monitor, Marie Claire, Men’s Health, Smithsonian.com, Salon.com, Guernica.com, the Columbia Journalism Review, The Millions and the Daily Beast. She has taught writing at Columbia, WritopiaLab, and the Free Bird Writer’s Workshop. Jen holds an MFA in fiction-writing and a MS in journalism from Columbia. She is a native of Washington, DC and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, with all the other writers.

Leah Umansky: Leah Umansky is a New Yorker by birth, a teacher by choice, and an anglophile at heart. Her first book, “Domestic Uncertainties,” is floating around various contest piles and hoping for someone to say, “yes!” She received her BA in English/Creative Writing from SUNY Binghamton and her MFA in Poetry from Sarah Lawrence College and is a recipient of a 1-week fellowship at the Norman Mailer Writers Colony. She has been a contributing writer for BOMB Magazine’s BOMBLOG, a poetry reviewer for The Rumpus and a guest blogger for The Best American Poetry Blog. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in: Barrow Street, Women’s Studies Quarterly,” Contemporary Verse 2, Cream City Review, The Paterson Literary Review, and Magma Poetry.
